I first came across Pukas when I visited San Sebastian for the first time in 2010. Located in the Basque Country in the north of Spain, San Seb is incredibly laid back, known for great surf, an old town that lays claim to having the highest concentration of bars in the World! Anchored by 2 incredible beaches, this town is cool, calm and connected to a culture of surf, sun and unique Basque traditions.
The Pukas brand is synonymous with surfing culture in the Basque Country. They shape their boards in “The Factory” and are known for hosting top International Shapers.
What also attracted me to this brand was the quality clothing they produced. Basque steeze, 90’s style logos and interesting patterns.
Their women’s wear consists of eye popping colours, unique wool knits, and loose fitting tees.
Let’s not forget about the Surfboards. Functional pieces of Art in design and shape, available in a wide array of styles and lengths.
And finally, I believe Gabriel Medina is the coolest surfer on the tour. He’s Pukas sponsored.
